Eastern Europe

The Eastern Europe program is focused on research of post-Soviet transformation and foreign policy of countries of Eastern Europe (Russian Federation and the Eastern Partnership countries), their interaction, cooperation and conflicts, bilateral relations of the Slovak Republic with these countries as well as relations of East European countries with the EU and NATO. Special attention is paid to EU policy towards East European countries, including the European Neighborhood Policy since 2004 and the Eastern Partnership since 2008. Research activities under the program are aimed at better understanding of domestic politics and foreign policy of East European countries and developing policy recommendations for Slovakia's foreign policy towards these countries in bilateral relations or on the ground of international organizations. The program also includes development projects implemented by RC SFPA in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, aimed at supporting reforms and their rapprochement with the EU.
