International Crisis Management

The change of local and regional security environment necessarily requires an adequate response not only from the nation states, but also from international organizations active in the field of international crisis management. The ICM project deals with the civilian and military aspects of crisis management, as well as new and classical approaches to the solution of conflicts with primary focus on the crisis phenomena within the EU and its neighborhood.

The project aims to revive the public debate on ICM in Slovak and Central European region, follow-up on existing outputs and, last but not least, bring an updated quantitative and qualitative view on this issue.

The ICM project is structured into the following three levels of research:

• Interinstitutional relations between the EU, NATO and OSCE in ICM
• V4 and International Crisis Management
• Slovak republic and International Crisis Management

The research is funded with support of Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak republic, International Visegrad Fund, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, NATO Science for Peace and Security, U.S. Embassy in Bratislava and Embassy of Finland in Bratislava.

Description:

The proposed Advanced Research Workshop is intended to inspire a highly interactive expert examination on the very actual topic of international conflict/crisis resolution/management (CR/M) in several protracted, frozen and newly emerged conflicts in the Euro- Atlantic and Eurasian space with the recommendations for the future. With the participation of sound high-level practitioners and experts, the event will explore and propose innovative ways for NATO, OSCE and EU cooperation in the CR/M, analyze lessons learned and best practices. The demand to contribute to a comprehensive approach to international organization ́s engagement in international conflicts is clearly visible.A
