Women in Foreign Affairs

The role of women in foreign policy and diplomacy is often downplayed or unnoticed. Therefore, we aim to challenge gender stereotypes about the importance of women in these fields. We want to draw attention to the need to increase their representation, as well as the need to promote inclusion and diversity in state institutions. We focus on this issue comprehensively. Our research focuses on historical development, mapping the current state of play, comparative analysis and collection of examples of good practice from Slovakia and abroad. We examine the barriers that young women face at the beginning of their careers in diplomacy and look for ways to address these issues effectively. We are preparing recommendations to promote inclusion and diversity for educational institutions, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and other actors. In our awareness-raising activities, we combine art and research to raise the profile of women in Slovak diplomacy so that, as a society, we appreciate their important contribution.
